xviii, 420 pages of text. Leather spine and corners with marbled paper-covered boards. The spine and top edge is slightly sunned/faded/browned and the hinges are slightly worn. Minor foxing on the first and final few pages, and very light scattered foxing throughout the text. Previous owner's early bookplate with gold crown affixed on the half-title page, with the four glue applications causing a light indentation to a few pages to follow: Margaret Poulett (likely the widowed second wife of the 4th Earl; she died in 1838 and the Poulett Lodge was thereafter sold to Andrew Maclew and contents likely dispersed). First edition.
