Volume 3 Number 9 of the Paris Review (Summer 1955) featuring James Leo Herlihy, and inscribed on page 9 (the beginning of his contribution) at the top-edge "For Ed Ahearn - in appreciation of his interest and encouragement - Sincerely, Jim Herlihy Oct 2, 1955." Wraps are worn at extremities; spine is slightly darkened, and front hinge is weak. Also included is a 2-page letter on Herlihy's letterhead of the same date which reads "Dear Mr. Ahearn - I regret that I do not have a tidy or up-to-date copy of my new play, "The Children's Comedy." Copies will be mimeo-ed soon from the producer's master script and I would like you to have one of those. I sincerely appreciate your interest in my work. And I would like to thank you, too, for helping to make this particular sojourn of employment so pleasant and congenial. I have found Keyes Fibre exemplary in its consideration for employees, and realize that you contribute a great deal to this atmosphere. Cordially, Jim (PS) I hope you will enjoy this copy of my short novel - "A Summer for the Dead." I think it's perhaps more readable than the play. JH." An unstamped envelope accompanies the letter. Theater, Playright.
