Served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War; Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana 1879; Governor of Louisiana 1881-88; justice of Louisiana state supreme court 1888; U.S. Senator from Louisiana 1897-1910; died in office 1910. Brother of John McEnery. Democrat. Attractive for framing.
