Red hardcover cloth binding with bright boards, with minimal discoloration and fading along edge; front cover is decorated in gilt and black. Spine is heavily affected by flaking of decoration, causing the inability to read the spine when book is on the shelf; extremities of spine are slightly frayed, but the binding remains in good working order; protected in custom stiff archival mylar. Illustrated with a frontispiece, three plates and a map. Title page is moderately toned from offsetting of newsprint paper. Previous owner's stamp neatly on first page of text. Minor weakening of text block in center.
