Vol I: xiv, 422 pages of text and 16 black & white illustrations. Vol II: x, 392 pages of text including an index, 16 black & white illustrations, and facsimiles of 14 historic letters, several of which are fold-out, followed by 40 pages of publisher's advertisement. Minor foxing scattered throughout text. Inner rear hinge of first volume starting to weaken, but remaining intact and functional.
