Front cover with gilt device of Hellmuth Ladies College London; gift binding, with award presentation affixed to front pastedown, dated 1874. Publication date not stated, circa 1870. Text is illustrated with several black & white sketches, printed by the firm of Butterfield & Heath. Apparently, a somewhat factual account of the Peninsular War, written by one whose husband served in a regiment, and who herself comforted the wounded on the battlefield. Minor foxing scattered throughout text, mainly confined to first and last few pages, and otherwise in margins. Nursing. The text is clean and unmarked. First edition.
