364 pages of text. Original hardcover cloth binding with moderate shelfwear; spine extremities are chipped and very much rubbed, but gilt spine lettering remains intact and attractive. Front board discreetly stained along fore edge. Inner front hinge starting to loosen. Binding protected in custom stiff archival mylar. Illustrated with a frontisportrait of General Henry M. Naglee, and illustrations of Major John M. Gries, Lieutenant Edward S. McDowell, the Head-Quarters on St. Helena Island South Carolina, Camp on Morris Island, and Lieutenant Philip Burke. Minor foxing scattered throughout text, and tiny stains to fore edge affecting the margins only. Previous owner's bookplate neatly on front paste-down endpaper. First edition.
