Hardcover half-leather binding with marbled boards; moderate rubbing to extremities, and spine is darkened, sunned and the surface finish is cracked; protected in archival mylar. Maroon leather spine label. Interior is in excellent condition, with minor browning and foxing to edges of several pages, and previous owner's inscription handwritten on front flyleaf "Asa O. Aldis's Bequeathed to him by his Brother Sandford Gadcomb." Circa 1900 bookplate "Ex Libris Aldis" on front paste-down (marbled) endpaper. Corresponding marbled endpaper is reattached near hinge.
