Portfolio of 89 black & white engraved plates, without any text except titles. Measures 18.75 inches (47cm) by 12 inches (30.5cm). 27 plates, including the engraved title page and frontisport bust of the author are engraved by or under the supervision of E. I. Roberts, and appear to be proofs on India Paper. The remaining 62 plates include a map. About 20 of the plates have minor foxing in the image area (including at least one proof), and more have minor foxing in the margins (a few with heavy foxing to margins), and more yet have minor soiling and wear to the page edges. One of the proof plates is soiled, with a few tears to the margins. Loose leaves in tan paper board portfolio; olive cloth shelfback; printed paper label on front cover. On the printed label is circled in pencil "Proofs on India Paper with Lettters 3 3 0." Spine cloth is lacking, and there are several tape adhesive stains to boards.
