Two volume set. Vol. I: [xiv], 367 pages of text, followed by [iii] pages of publisher's advertisement. Vol. II: 363 pages of text followed by [ii] pages of pubisher's advertisement. Both volumes have been in blue cloth with gild-embossed leather lables. Octavo: measures 7.5 inches in height (191mm). The first volume is illustrated by a frontispiece, two fold-out plates, and 27 figures on 15 plates. The second volume is illustrated by a frontisportrait, a fold-out map, two views/charts, and 13 figures on nine plates. The title page of volume two states 1731 as the publication date, whereas the title page of the first volume states 1738. Both title pages are stamped twice with the previous owner's name, and both front pastedown endpapers contain the previous owner's bookplate: Henry von Wackerbarth. The first few pages of volume 2 contain a small circular stain, there are a few light pencil marks scattered throughout the text, and the top edge of the closed pages is lightly spotted. Title continues "...Their Religion, Government, Laws, Customs, Ceremonies and Opinions; Their Art of War, Possessions, Language, Genius, &c. Together with a Short Account of the Dutch Settlement at the Cape. Done into English from the Original by Mr. Medley. The Second Edition."
