136 pages of text. Original full leather binding with minor to moderate wear. The boards are mottled calf; the spine has the original maroon spine label, and is decorated in gilt with five flower devices bordered by French fillet, and decorated further with gilt acorns, etc. The endpapers are original marbled paper. Previous owner's initials (R.D.) on the inside front cover and the title page, and the name "Robt. Digby" at the top margin of the first page of text; this is presumably Admiral Robert Digby (1732-1815). These are extracts or full letters exchanged between Charles Louis Auguste Fouquet Belle-Isle, duc de and Louis Georges Erasme Contades, Marquis de. Subject: France, History, Louis XV, 1715-1774, Anglo-French War (1755-1763). The text is clean and unmarked. Several editions with similar but not identical titles, and different pagination were published in 1759. My attempts to verify the priority of editions has been unsuccessful. First edition.
