Photograph signed by Jawaharlal Nehru.
no place: No publisher, 1940. First Edition. Unbound. Octavo (8vo). Very good condition. Item #016455
Black & white photographic portrait of Nehru, under which he has signed his full name with no further inscription. The photograph is framed, and has a quote framed underneath it that reads "That is the goal of India - a united, free, democratic country, closely associated in a world federation with other free nations" taken from Nehru's autobiography. A note on the back says that this was given to someone by Reginald Babulal Singh in the Fall of 1940. Singh was a member of Gandhi's Indian National congress and was in Chicago in December 1940 lecturing on India's problems. The matting is yellowed and a bit stained at the bottom edge, and needs to be replaced.
