108 pages of text. Original brown cloth inding is worn and rubbed, with chipping to the spine extremities; protected in archival mylar. Previous owner's name on the front endpaper (from 1869). The text is clean and unmarked. Of Patterson, the "Alta California" once said "If the state of California were hunted through, it would not be possible to find a minder who had stuck to his business longer or more steadily." His narrative is an interesting one, detailing the trip to San Francisco in 1849; his travels and adventures in the Mining Districts and life and experience at Mormon Island and Georgetown.
