The original hardcover binding with bright color design by Matisse is minimally shelfworn. The original unclipped but unpriced dustjacket has a few small tears and creases, minimal toning to the spine, and a small area of minor discoloration on the front cover, and is lightly to moderately worn at the extremities; protected in archival mylar. Includes the original caption booklet. The text is clean and unmarked. With a foreword by the photographer, and a technical report to photographers by Richard L. Simon. This book with a cover designed and executed especially for it by Henri Matisse, is a selection of 126 photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson. This, the American edition was conceived and composed by Teriade with the collaboration fo Marguerite Lang. The engraving and printing is the work of the master printers Draeger Freres of Paris.
