xii, 221 pages of text. Original hardcover binding with minimal soiling to the spine; the printed paper label on the spine is browned and discolored. The original slipcase is cracked at the top seam, and is moderately shelfworn. Number 273 of 300 copies. Contains numerous portraits and facsimile illustrations. Contains the Diary of Fray Juan Mariner, the Grant to Silvestre de la Portilla, the Grant to Jose Antonio Pico, Warner's First Grant of 1844, and Warner's Second Grant of 1846. On the front endpaper there is a printed card of Mr. John Treanor, the printer, presenting the book. Also the handwritten name "W. Irving Way" on the inside front cover which refers to W. Irving Way and Company, the publisher, to whom it was presumably given. The endpapers are slightly toned, and the front endpaper has a tiny stain on it. The text is clean and unmarked. First edition.
