Original green cloth covered boards with original printed paper labels. The bindings are worn, with minor browning to the spine, a few tears and creases, and the corners are bumped; the bottom of the spine of the first volume is significantly bumped, creasing the rear board. The inner hinges were nearly invisibly strengthened. Contains the errata slip and the "Frederick" typographical error on page 104 in Vol. I. Illustrated with 3 maps including one fold-out, and hundreds of plates of line-drawings of southern and western Indians. Al illustrations are in black-and-white.
