[vi], 510 pages of text. Original leather boards, re-backed approximately 60 years ago in matching leather with raised bands and a new gilt-stamped leather spine label. The bottom corners of the boards are rubbed, and the boards are moderately rubbed and shelfworn. Complete with the engraved title page and 20 in-text portrait engravings. Very minor soiling to a few page edges, and a few small tears and creases to page edges. New endpapers, with one original front endpaper with a contemporary ownership name on it: Abigail Legh Oc[tober] 28 [16]87." Peter Legh (House of Lyme) married Abigail Chetwode in April of 1687. Richard Legh died 08/31/1687. "Profane State" has its own title page, included in the contiguous pagination. Fourth edition.
