[xviii], 588 pages of text. Original full calf binding is intact and functional but is very worn, is lacking pieces of leather at the spine extremities, and the hinges are weakened. The first few and final few pages (including the title page) are heavily toned/browned, and soiled, with some small tears, chips and creases. The majority of the text is also affected one way or another by the same, mostly to a much lesser degree, including some minor damp-staining which is most noticeable on pages 119-151. The text is also slightly affected by minor rippling. Previous owners name on the detached front endpaper, the title page, the contents page: Thomson Neale (1744-1808) and Mary Neale 1791. A few pencil markings in the text. There were six printings of this title by 1750, all of which are infrequently available, most of all this, the first edition.
