LACKS ONE COLOR PLATE in Vol. I, Part I titled "Diegenos"; otherwise the set is complete. Vol. I: Part I: xvi, 258 pages. Part II: viii, 174 pages. Vol. I, Part I: Contains 11 of 12 color tinted plates, a large folding map titled "Map of the United States and Their Territories Between the Mississippi and the Pacific Ocean," two folding charts, 66 plates on 33 sheets/leaves, and 8 steel engraved plates including a one page map. Also contains an extra steel engraving at page 96 titled "View of Monument Mountain" not called for in the list of plates. Vol. I, Part II: Contains 21 plates and a large brightly colored tinted folding map titled "Map Illustrating the General Geographic Features of the Country West of the Mississippi River" by Hall and Lesley. There are numerous plates that are browned and foxed, and one plate is bound in upside down. Volume II (dated 1859 on title page), Part I on Botany: 270 pages followed by 61 plates; Part I continued on Cactaceae contains 78 pages of text followed by one steel engraved landscape and 75 plates of specimens.
