[viii], lxi,[i] blank, [ii] half title, 470 pages of text, followed by [ii] pages describing the apparatus plate. Complete with a hand-colored map frontispiece, large linen-backed hand-colored geological strata plate, a table, and a black-and-white plate of geological and mineralogical instruments and apparatus all of which are folding. Title page states "Part I" but this is all that was published. Minor foxing and minor browning to the first and final few pages, as well as the plates. The largest plate has a minor damp stain to the lower edge. Leather spine and corners, and marbled paper-covered boards with moderate shelfwear; the hinges and spine have been professionally mended. Height = 195mm (7 11/16"). First edition.
