88 pages of text. Original paper-covered boards, rebacked with modern matching paper spine and a new printed paper spine label. Inscribed by the author on the blank page facing the first page of text "For Mrs. Hepburn of... with best respects from the Author." It appears as though the same hand has attributed the unstated author of "The Mermaid" to "the late Dr. Leyden" which is written in the bottom margin, an attribution that is indeed correct. The text is otherwise clean and unmarked. 222mm x 136mm (8 11/16" x 5 3/8"). First edition.
