Previous owner's engraved armorial bookplate on the inside front cover: William Kemmis. The author (1729-1799) was one of the great natural philosophers of the 18th Century and an important experimentalist in biology, physics, chemistry, geology, etc. This study of volcanism covers Vesuvius, Stromboli and Etna.
