Original half leather binding with marbled paper-covered boards is heavily worn, is darkened on the spine which lacks the label, and the binding has dark staining, especially to the front board. The binding remains intact and functional, and is protected in custom-fitted archival mylar. Two pages have small creases to the top corner, and several pages at the end of the text have tiny creases to the fore edge, but the text is clean and unmarked. The endpapers are browned on the edges. First edition. Title continues: To which is Added an Appendix, Containing the Laws of the United States on the Subject of Fugitives from Labor, the Charges of Judge Kane to the Grand Juries in Relation thereto, and a Statement of the Points of Law Decided by the Court during the Trial.
