xxxii, 557 pages of text. Contemporary half leather binding with paper-covered boards has moderate wear, soiling, and discoloration. The front board is hand-lettered. The exterior front hinge was expertly repaired. First edition of this annotated new translation by Tittel (1739-1816), who was an eclectic philosopher and critic of Kantian philosophy. Previous owner's oval bookplate affixed to the inside front cover: Le Chevalier Charles de Bohr. There are a few tiny spots of staining to the page edges, and the text is minimally browned and foxed. The text is otherwise clean and unmarked. An abridgment of Locke's "Essay Concerning Human Understanding"
