[vi], 47 leaves of plates, followed by [ii] pages of explanatory text. The first three preliminary leaves are printed on the rectos only. Seventeen of the leaves of plates are printed on one side only. Contains 77 pages of engravings, some containing multiple illustrations. Bound in traditional Japanese style, with exposed string binding. The flexible hardcover boards are embellished with a woven textile green silk threads holding tiny strips of paper to create a subdued and beautiful floral pattern. The binding is worn and fraying on the edges, with creasing to the corners, but remains intact and attractive. The title page has minor staining. Stated on the title page: Second edition. The author published another work around the same time titled "Korea and the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel" which these illustrations were intended to supplement.
