x, 422 pages of text including four pages of publisher's advertisement. Original green paper-covered boards have minor shelfwear, with the rear exterior hinge showing wear. The inner front hinge is beginning to crack. The original protective cardboard sleeve remains intact, though heavily worn and with old archival tape repairs. The embossed dedication leaf on colored paper is hinged on the back of the frontispiece. The frontispiece was reattached discretely with a thin strip of tape. Dedicated on the front endpaper to "Sophia N. Henning from her brother on her birthday 25th November 1828." Her brother also affixed a cut-out hand-colored replica of a flattened moth on the dedication leaf, magnifying James Montgomery poem within, titled "Epitaph on a Gnat, found crushed on the Leaf of a Lady's Album." Front and rear endpapers with pencil notations. Illustrated with a total of 14 black-and-white engravings. Edited by Frederic Schoberl. Contributers include: H.
