Bound in full red morocco, with raised bands, top edge gilt, and spine gold lettering and ruling; minor shelfwear and housed in a simple marbled paper-covered slipcase. Marbled endpapers. Pages [iii]-[v] contain a rhymed preface in prose form. Title page printed in red and black; parenthetical notes in red are interspersed within the title. Corrected first edition, with pages 63 and 64 correctly paged, and the line 'A Vocal and Musical Medley' appearing on the title page, and the 'Preliminary note to the second edition' not present. Includes a manuscript of the title page, handwritten and unsigned, bound in between the frontisportrait and the printed title page. It does not appear to resemble Lowell's handwriting, but considering the quality of the binding, it seems odd that it isn't. The text is clean and unmarked.
