[ii], 253 pages of text. Rebound in full brown leather with four raised bands, and blind tooled lines along board edges. Two gold-lettered leather spine labels. The title page has several minor ink and other stains, as well as a small loss to one corner. Minor loss to the lower corner of a few pages, affecting only the margin, and there is minor soiling to several pages. New endpapers, retaining the originals; the original front endpaper has archival mending along the edges. Printed in 4 languages, including Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and German. Contains 97 curious wood cut illustrations. This is apparently an unrecorded variant of this work, published during Joachim von Beust's lifetime (1522-1597). While studying Law and the Liberal Arts at the University of Leipzig, von Beust encountered Martin Luther and came under his influence. He is probably best known as the founder of The Saxon Protestant Marriage Law. Measures 6 1/8" (156mm). Early edition.
