[iv], xiv, 424 pages of text, followed by [iv], cxii pages containing the Appendix. Complete with two engraved title pages and 26 plates, plus one folding genealogical plate, six of which are hand-colored, and one is tinted. Original full leather boards, lightly worn on the edges, expertly rebacked in full leather with five raised bands and a leather spine label. Large quarto measuring over 11 3/4" (301mm). Note: Plate 6 is listed in the list of plates, but is not present. Plate 20 is present, as listed in the list of plates. However, there is an entirely different plate, numbered 20* which is not listed in the list of plates. Additionally illustrated with several smaller engraved in-text illustrations. Many of the black and white plates are foxed. Previous owner's modern bookplate neatly on the inside front cover. First edition.
