Auburn, NY: Printed by David Rumsey, 1819. First Edition. Hardcover. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Very good condition. Item #020258

[iv], 320 pages of text, followed by [i] page of errata. Complete with the folding map facing the title page. Original full calf, lightly worn, with the original maroon gilt-lettered leather spine label. The final unpaginated leaf contains 15 lines of text, the size of less than a third of a page, affixed to an otherwise blank endpaper. This is in addition to the Errata contained on page 320. Confirmed through comparison to another copy of this title, this is how the book was issued, and is to be considered incomplete without it. The folding map, which is free of foxing, has two folds archivally and expertly mended. The title page and endpapers have the previous owner's name and other contemporary handwriting: John Wheatley. Small ink stain to fore edge of the first few pages, including the title page. The text is overall moderately foxed, as seems typical of other copies. Additionally, there is soiling scattered lightly throughout the text. The final blank endpaper had the bottom corner archivally replaced. Bibliography: Howes T-162. First edition.
