Signed in blue ink by the author on the half title page with no further inscription. Dr. Hannibal Lecter's first appearance is in a small role as a villain in this thriller novel. Two small smudges to the top of the closed page edges, and a small blue ink stain to the closed page edges at the fore edge. There are also two barely noticeable small binding defects where an extra tiny corner of two pages were folded into the text and bound in. Rarely found signed directly on the book, as is here, and typically encountered signed on an affixed bookplate. First edition, with date of 1981 printed on the copyright page and no additional printings or dates listed.
