Original hardcover binding is sunned at all extremities, and is moderately worn, including fraying to the spine extremities; protected in custom fitted archival mylar. Illustrated with a fold-out color frontis map indicating where the brothels, pawn brokers, saloons and lodging houses were located in the area between Dearborn and Clark, and Harrison and Polk in the Nineteenth Precinct of the First Ward; one of the folds is neatly torn. Lacks the front blank endpaper. Previous owner's stamp on inside front cover: Rev C. Roberts. The text is clean and unmarked. First UK edition.
