Printed title and 330 leaves of text, printed on one side of the leaf. Many leaves are uncut, untrimmed, and unopened, with minor soiling and discoloration to some edges. A rare survival being a book intended to be cut up and used to label an entomology collection or collections. Original wrappers, over which is pasted brown paper; front cover titled in ink. The pagination is as follows: a-c, D-I, K-U, W-Z, AA-II. Each gathering is 10 copies of the same page of text. A 1796 printing with significantly extended text is held at the Netherlands Entomological Society. The NES copy pagination is as above but continues as follows: KK-UU, WW-ZZ, AAA-III, KKK-MMM with the final leaf without designation. According to a previously issued bookseller's catalogue description this is the Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872) copy with his manuscript notation on the title page in pencil "Entomology or insects with Zoology" at the top margin. Small tear to the title page near the gutter. Protected in a clamshell enclosure. Height = 196mm. First edition.
