455 pages of text including an index. Half maroon leather binding with marbled paper-covered boards; front hinge repaired with Japanese tissue and colored to match. The binding is signed (stamped) by a binder from NY, but it cannot be read; it could be Butler Bros. Contains twenty-one inserted engravings from other publications, all relating to French humorists. Ex-libris Allan McNab (likely the artist 1901-1982) with his bookplate on both front and rear pastedown endpapers. Offsetting and foxing, mainly to the plateguards, but also minimally to the plates.
