THE PATHFINDER: or, The Inland Sea. Two volume set.
Philadelphia, PA: Lea and Blanchard, 1840. First Edition. Hardcover. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Very good- condition. Item #020485
Two volume set. Vol. I: iv, [13]-240 pages. Vol. II: 233 pages. Original cloth bindings are moderately sunned on the spine, with moderate rubbing to the extremities. The printed paper spine label of the first volume is mostly rubbed off. The corners are bumped, and the front hinge of the first volume is cracked, but the bindings remain intact; protected in archival Mylar. Part of the bottom margin of the preface in the first volume is lacking, due to at some point it being adhered to the back of the title page, which has some paper residue and a thinned spot. There is minor foxing scattered lightly throughout the text, and there is a small bump to the page edges resulting in small tears in the margins of a few pages. First issue of the first edition, with Fagan and Collins imprint near the center of the back of the title page and no copyright notice in the first volume.
