The hinges and extremities are moderately worn, and the spines are slightly darkened. Bound with interleaved blank pages for notes and additions; approximately 50 of the blank pages contain handwritten notes, all of which appear to be in the same early but unidentified hand. A few pages of text contain notations in the same hand. PROVENANCE: bookplate of Lionel George Higgins in each volume. Wormholes in the upper margin, not affecting the text in Vol. I pages 171-232.
