Stated in the "note" facing the title page "This little book contains three papers by Joseph Conrad, first contributed to The Daily Chronicle of August 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 1918. They are issued here in an edition of twenty-five copies by kind permission of the Author for private distribution among my friends."
