20 pages of text. Original lavender-colored printed paper wrappers, with untrimmed edges. Moderate toning to the wrappers, pronounced at the edges. Minor toning to the page edges. Printed on hand-made Aldwych paper; many pages are uncut and unopened. As described in the Wise Bibliography (#29), this copy is numbered (XIV) and initialled (C.K.S.) by the Editor. Measures 10 x 7.75 inches. Stated in the "note" facing the title page "This little book contains three papers by Joseph Conrad, first contributed to The Daily Chronicle of August 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 1918. They are issued here in an edition of twenty-five copies by kind permission of the Author for private distribution among my friends." Engraved bookplate of industrialist, book collector and former trustee of the Newberry Library John A. Spoor (1851-1926) affixed neatly to the inside of the front wrapper.
