Two volume set. Contemporary (old) full marbled calf binding, with marbled paper endpapers. Minor to moderate shelfwear, with minimal loss to the spine extremities, and some weakening to the hinges. Volume I illustrated with a frontisportrait; one page corner uncut with excess paper folded over. Minor staining to the fore edge margins of both volumes, which is more prominent in the first volume. Minor foxing and minor soiling scattered lightly throughout text. Volume II contains an index, but bound without the list of original subscribers which is sometimes present according to Sabin. Appears to have been bound without the terminal blank leafs. First and final pages of text are slightly foxed, browned, and/or contain offsetting. This is the first hot-press edition of the Bible printed in America. The hot-press method involved heating of the ink during the printing process. Bibliography: Sabin 5182, Hills 62.
