The closed page are also moderately foxed. Signed in ink on the title page "E.P. Hillary" with no further inscription. Contains 31 plates, including the color frontispiece; many plates contain numerous images. With maps by A. Spark and sketches by George Djurkouic. Previous owner's name neatly on the rear endpaper: K.K. Knight, Southwood Christow, Exeter. Edmund Percival Hillary (1919-2008) was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer, and philanthropist. On 29 May 1953, he and Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. First edition.
