Four volume set. Bound in modern black leather with maroon cloth boards. Tissue-guarded frontisportrait of Jefferson present in first volume. All volumes are affected by foxing, which in some cases is prominent. About 70 pages of the first volume with a small stain to the lower corner, and some volumes have minor page rippling. The second volume has minor staining to the fore edge and bottom corner of about 20 pages. There are several pages creased at the corners, and minor soiling to some page margins. NOTE: LACKS FOUR PAGES OF TEXT (Vol. I: pgs. 147-150) AND FOLDOUT FACSIMILE OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE. Published one year after the first edition with few changes. Vol. I: viii, 464 pages.
